cue the creatives - Creative Dir
In 1999, Qiana Conley began her career in music at Epic Records, quickly advancing in Promotions/A&R while contributing to album projects by Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and B2K. With a talent in creative direction and an interest in working with the those behind the music, Conley sought out the world of songwriters and producers, landing career defining positions with international major independent publishers Notting Hill Music Publishing (UK) and ole (Canada). She flourished in these roles as Director of Creative/A&R, Television and Film and quickly became known amongst her peers for her innovative curation of the catalogues and talent rosters across genres, media platforms and music markets. Quickly dubbed “one-to-watch” in the Los Angeles music community, her efforts resulted in pioneering catalogue development and copyright exploitation in the Pop/Urban/Rock/Country/Dance genres with rosters featuring Cee-Lo Green, Beyonce, Hellogoodbye, Motorhead, Taylor Swift, Erick Sermon, Pussycat Dolls, Kelly Clarkson, The Sims and many more.
After an 8-year run in Music Publishing, Conley returned to her A&R roots as Director of A&R for Simon Cowell's US Label, Syco Music and worked with developing their artists and repertoire in the US and UK for Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, One Direction, and Cher Lloyd, including contributing to the selections and production process of talent and music for the X-Factor, America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent. With many of her work as an A&R and Music Publisher intersecting with the TV/Film music community, Conley often found success in the marriage of these worlds and in 2012 became the Senior Director, Artist Platform and Music Services for Viacom Media Networks/MTV Music Group. Here her focus was overseeing the promotion of the in-house record label Hype Music’s catalogue to Viacom’s family of networks and TV Production companies as well recording and packaging of the 2013 Hype Music holiday album.
